The course gives an introduction to various mathematical methods in physics, mainly in the area of statistical mechanics. Possible topics include the study of thermodynamic limits, entropy, phase transitions and spontaneous symmetry breaking, Bose-Einstein condensation and superfluidity. The methods will be illustrated on concrete models in classical and quantum statistical mechanics.
