This will be a very basic introduction to R for people with very little to no programming experience (in any language).

The course will give students a general feeling about how programming works, and how to use R, R studio and R notebooks to analyse and visualize data.
Topics covered will include:
• Introduction to programming: variables, functions, basic control structures
• Where to find help when you get stuck
• Data structures, data manipulation, importing and exporting, basic visualization / more advanced visualisation
• Using packages, basic statistical functions...

Target group: Someone with no programming experience that wants to learn some programming to analyze their data and make nice plots. As this very basic it might be a bit low level for someone with a little programming experience.

Prerequisites: Laptop that can run R and R studio

Evaluation: There will be no exam but participants have to be present in the classes and the homework will be evaluated (pass/fail).

Teaching format: 6 sessions. Each session will introduce several new topics that we will explore with hands-on exercises. In addition, for each session there will be homework of ~3h.
